Nuke energy...is it up to date?

The electrical power industry here in Illinois, or for all America, is not getting their fair share of popular news plugs from reporters.  I think we are on the verge of a disaster with a major breakdown in the electrical power providers.  My persuasion is that, us, consumers of electricity, have forgotten that we are at an all time usage for mega-watt power per day all across the land.  Yet, we simply continue to "burn" power with out regard to where it comes from and how it is actually produced.

Well, as I learned from early grade school that energy really is not produced and can not be ended.  It is simply here all the time, and we, mankind, can only transmit or exchange energy from one source to another.  In  this exchange we either get productive uses or losses.  Americans are greatly skilled at knowing precisely how we can gain production from energy exchange. I say, Americans, and that means, yes, all of us have contributed to our society and we must be cognizant that we are a large community sharing rewards of prosperity.  This prosperity has come with many hours of hard work and research each and every day.  Electricity was discovered by Benjamin Franklin so long ago, as the story goes with him flying a kite in a thunderstorm and getting jolted with electricity.

Electricity is an un-natural phenomenon.  This is because it is all theory of atoms and floating charges in orbit around a nucleus.  So, electricity has always existed from the beginning.  It is just that we can make productive use of that energy source after this discovery.  But of course over the years, there were many, many more scientist and engineers to study and make good use of the beneficial transfer of energy (a.k.a electricity).

So, why now do we think the whole world will suddenly disappear if we use too much electricity.  Well, electricity wont make that happen, but the primary source of energy that electricity comes from could.  And that is from nuclear energy.  Are you afraid of nuclear energy?  Honestly, not me.  Oh, but maybe a little.

Nuclear energy is a double edged sword so to speak.  It is easy to produce, somewhat, because the natural resources (e.g. uranium and plutonium) are moderately abundant on earth and we only use very small portions to create a large power transmission exchange. These radioactive minerals are divided by nuclear reaction and when this happens there is a 'chain-reaction' that creates tremendous heat, by virtue of the laws of physics.  This heat is captured in large containment vessels filled with water that then boils and produces steam power.  This steam power turns large generators which then produce electricity form rotation of atoms around a nucleus, that is the core of the generator.  There has to be motion set in place.

So, does that process and stuff all scare you?  Not for me.  We need this resource, nuclear power, as the 'cheapest' source of energy power.  This in the end will be the safest and cleanest way to create electrical power for many generations to come.
